Aimee M. Skier
Aimee is the third generation at AMSkier. Born and raised in camp country, Honesdale, Pennsylvania, Aimee also spent many years at camp. After earning her bachelor's degree at Syracuse University and her MBA degree to follow, she joined AMSkier and continues the tradition of caring.
Henry M. Skier
Dedication to children's camps has been a cherished part of Henry's life since his years as a camper and counselor. Since then, he has committed most of his professional life to serving camps as president of AMSkier. This dedication, sincerity, and professionalism contributed to his receiving the ACA Tri-State Award in 2009.
Jeffrey M. Skier
The third generation of family at AMSkier, Jeffrey cherished his many years growing at camp. After graduating from Syracuse University, he studied at the College of Insurance to hone his skills and joined AMSkier to continue the family legacy of caring. Today, Jeffrey continues to serve AMSkier camps, as well as the industry and his community by sitting on several boards.
Alan Cooper, Esquire
General Counsel, Claims Director
Holding the title of one of the world’s only “Camp Lawyers,” Alan has been practicing law for over 30 years. He left his job in a large Philadelphia law firm to be nearer to his summer camp roots in Northeastern Pennsylvania. He has been an AMSkier Partner since 2000. Alan recently founded our local “Challenger” Little League Baseball team, where he and his four children teach life skills, sportsmanship, and a bit of baseball to special needs children in our area.
AMSkier Managing Claims Adjuster
Paul has been associated with national and regional insurance companies for over forty years as an adjuster. He understands that not all claims presented are decided easily, and that more challenging claims require an experienced and dedicated claims professional. He knows where to look to find coverage, and, as a result, can settle even challenging claims fairly and timely. Paul is a US Navy veteran with 7 years of service.
Cathi Fischer, LCSW
The focus of Cathi’s work is assisting children and staff in supporting the social/emotional development of children. Cathi is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. As a Private Practitioner and consultant she sees children, families and adults of all ages which makes her well aware of the issues that confront our campers and their families. Being a Social Worker in the Public School system in New Jersey also affords her the additional opportunity to keep abreast of what is currently important to children and families today.
Norman Friedman, M.Ed.
Executive Director, AMSkier Partners
Norman joined us in 1999 after professionally caring for other people's children for more than 50 years. His training and experience as an educator, administrator, counselor, and mental health professional has enhanced our partnership with our AMSkier Family of Camps. Recognized as a camp expert by ACA, he serves as Director of AMSkier Partners.
Howie Gulker was a high school teacher for 22 years, and from 1968 until 2005 he and his wife were owners and directors of Blue Rill Day Camp. They are the proud parents of two daughters who have blessed them with five grandchildren. All of their grandchildren have been attending camp since the age of three. Howie never attended camp as a child, and was introduced to the wonderful world of camping by his college basketball coach. As a result, his life was changed forever.
Linda Kaplan has over 45 years of education and camp experience, bringing an abiding interest in health and safety to us as an AMSkier Partner. Linda spent most of her career at Ivy League School and Day Camp, serving as Camp Director for more than 25 years, and at the school as a pre-school and kindergarten teacher, music teacher, elementary school curriculum developer, pre-school director and principal. Linda also served as an EMT, volunteer firefighter and CPR and First Aid instructor for the American Red Cross and American Heart Association.
Gary Kimball, M.S.
Camp ALERT Network, Executive Director
Gary brought his corporate and crisis communications background to AMSkier in 1996, providing a calm voice and careful guidance when camp directors need it most. As Executive Director of Camp ALERT Network, Gary serves as a camp public relations expert to help with media, parents and virtually any kind of communications needed.
JoAnn Pine was the owner of Stonybrook Day Camp in Randolph, New Jersey for 25 years. As the camp manager she was responsible for all facets of a day camp program. Today, JoAnn utilizes her skills in mentoring students from Touro College in attaining their Master’s degree in camping. Jo is also a Safety Underwriter and presenter of AMSkier workshops that provide camp staff with information about Inappropriate Intimate Behaviors to aid in creating a culture of safety.
Steve Pine was the owner of Stonybrook Day Camp in Randolph, New Jersey, for 25 years. He attended N.Y.U and Seton Hall University, and holds a Master’s degree in Secondary School Administration. Presently, Steve delights in being a mentor at Touro College working with students toward their Masters degree in camping. He is a Safety Underwriter and presenter of AMSkier’s workshops for camp counselors during orientation.
Joel W. Schachter, PE
Joel is a Professional Engineer with over fifty years experience doing building evaluations. He lives and works in Northeastern Pennsylvania and in the New York City area. He visits camps in Northeastern Pennsylvania and in the Catskills and Sullivan Counties of New York State and provides helpful analyses and evaluations of camp buildings and facilities. Joel is also available to all AMSkier camps in all states for consultation and advice.
David has devoted his professional life to working with young people. After 12 years as a special education teacher, he become director of special services for the Bay Shore School District and, later, principal of the Brooklyn Avenue Elementary School in Valley Stream, NY. David also spent 12 summers at Kamp Kohut in Oxford, ME where he was a group leader, head counselor and, eventually, assistant director. In 1989, he and his wife Shelley became owners and directors of Indian Head Camp in Lookout, PA. Since then, David has served on the NY ACA board of directors and Tri-State Program Committee. He is a founding member of Project Morry, served on their board and is a past board president.
A lifelong educator, Shelley spent 26 years teaching in Amityville, NY, where she was also active in the Amityville Teachers’ Association. Camping became part of her life when she and her husband David were engaged in 1973. Sixteen years later, the Tagers became the owners and directors of Indian Head Camp in Lookout, PA. Active in the camp community, she served on the board of directors of Project Morry and helped develop Camps That Give, in addition to serving on the board and educational committee for the NY ACA. She also was secretary for the Wayne County Camp Directors Association.
Personal Assistant to the Skier Family
Sherry is one of the first friendly voices you hear when you call AMSkier. She spent many years in the restaurant business before coming to AMSkier in 2012. She is a graduate of Johnson School of Technology, with a degree in Mechanical Drafting and Design, and Lackawanna College, where she studied accounting for the natural gas industry. A lover of pets, she has eight horses, two dogs, and even more on her family farm in the Beach Lake area.
Personal Insurance Agent Partner, Assistant Vice President
After earning a bachelor’s degree from the Pennsylvania State University, Kevin began his career with AMSkier in 1995. Born and raised in Northeastern Pennsylvania, Kevin currently resides in Honesdale, PA with his wife and three children. He is an avid sports and outdoor enthusiast. When he isn’t at AMSkier you can find him kayaking, biking, hiking, or attending his children’s sporting events.
Assistant Vice President, Personal Assistant to the Skier Family, Camp ALERT Network Coordinator
The first person you speak to at AMSkier is often Johanna. Friendly, helpful and resourceful, Johanna wears many hats – including one as Camp ALERT Network Coordinator. She is the first contact for emergency calls, directing Camp Directors to the right AMSkier Partner, professional resources, emergency supplies or anything else that may be needed. You can also meet Johanna at ACA Conferences, during camp visits or at many of the community and professional functions associated with AMSkier.
Business Insurance Agent Partner, Assistant Vice President
Suzanne joined AMSkier in 2005. As Agency Assistant Vice President, she works closely with the Skier Family to build relationships with existing and new clients. She has a vast knowledge of markets and wows our clients with finding the unique coverage they are looking for. She is an insurance industry veteran and first started with an insurance agency in 1988. Though she was born and raised on Long Island, Suzanne now loves living in quaint Hawley, PA with her husband and two daughters. When away from the Skier offices, she spends as much time as possible with her cherished family and friends.
Director of Social Media
As manager of Harmony Presents and long time fan of AMSkier, Jill brings her creativity, passion for online networking and effective verbal and visual communication skills together as the Director of Social Media. Complimentary to her work at AMSkier, Jill is also an artist, musician, active member of the local community and travel lover.

As part of the AMSkier Team, Jennifer is energetic, caring and proud of the great relationships she builds with our clients. Jen joined the AMSkier Family in 2009 soon after moving to Pennsylvania with her husband and three children. When she isn’t helping our clients or spending time with her family, you can find Jen volunteering on projects and events that help our community.
Kim Latsch, CIC, CRM, CPIW
Business Insurance Agent Partner, Vice President
A resident of Pike County, PA, since she was 3 and a member of the AMSkier staff since 1979, Kim worked directly with Henry to develop, manage and expand the AMSkier Camp Program. Kim’s current responsibilities include relationship development for Business Insurance clients. She has both a Certified Insurance Counselor and a Certified Risk Manager designation. Kim holds Property and Casualty, Life, and Accident and Health Insurance Licenses. Kim is also a volunteer and member of the Board of Directors for Victims’ Intervention Program. She is a Dale Carnegie graduate, a member of the National Association of Insurance Women and a past president of The Greater Scranton Insurance Women.

Gretchen came to the AMSkier Agency in January 2014 with over 15 years experience in the Insurance Industry. She truly enjoys working with people and strives to build long-lasting relationships with her clients and fellow partners. When not working, Gretchen enjoys spending time with her husband and her 3 boys who are actively involved with local youth basketball and baseball teams.

Dan joined the AMSkier Team in September 2013. He has lived in the Hawley area for most of his life and is a graduate of Wallenpaupack Area High School. He has a bachelor's degree in business from The Pennsylvania State University and more than three years of insurance industry experience. In his free time, Dan enjoys playing basketball, golfing and fishing local lakes.

When Karen joined the Commercial Lines Department at AMSkier in 2011, she brought the experience of owning and operating an insurance agency for 25 years in the Lake Wallenpaupack area, where she was born and raised. Karen is a past president of the Greater Scranton Insurance Women, and a member of the Wallenpaupack Historical Society. She enjoys painting, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
Ann Cosgrove, CISR
Ann recently joined the AMSkier Camp Program and is excited to get to know all of our Camps. Like many of our Camp Directors, Ann is a lover of outdoor adventure. She is a lifelong resident of the Hawley area and likes to spend free time with her family and treasure hunting off the beaten path. Ann has more than 25 years of insurance experience.
Claims Coordinator, Safety Director, Service Director
As Claims Coordinator, Karen excels at providing caring partnership to AMSkier camps across the country. Prior to joining AMSkier in 2011, Karen worked in communication management at insurance companies throughout the New York and New Jersey area. Karen enjoys skiing, boating and travel.
Laurie Granville, CISR
Senior Accounting Service Director
Laurie grew up in Hawley and came to AMSkier in 1980, after spending several years working at a local resort. She began her career in our Claims Department and has been our Senior Accounting Service Director for many years, working directly with our Camps. Laurie is a licensed Insurance Agent and holds the CISR designation. She enjoys spending her time with her family, including her daughter, her son and his wife.
Assistant Account Manager
Michael joined AMSkier in November 2015. He moved to Pennsylvania from Indiana and is quickly spreading his roots by serving the community in many ways. Michael has been a camper and a camp counselor, and during his off AMSkier hours he is also pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in both Economics and Financing from Liberty University. He has many passions, but spends most of his spare time outdoors either fishing or hiking.
Senior Account Manager
A native of Philadelphia, Dianne moved to Hawley in 1990 where she lives with her husband and three children. After 26 years in the legal profession, Dianne joined AMSkier in 2011, obtained her insurance license and is now dedicated to ensuring the safety of children’s camps across the country as an Account Manager. Dianne enjoys spending time with family and friends and volunteering for local activities and fundraisers.
Christine Kellar, CPCU, CIC, CPIW, CRM
Underwriting Vice President
Chris is known for being a camp insurance and safety expert. With AMSkier since 1992, Chris enjoys visiting camps, spending time with her family and friends and believes that summer is the best time of the year. She has been working in the insurance industry since 1983. Chris enjoys keeping herself up to date with her insurance education.
Since graduating from Lehigh University, Steve has over 20 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industries. Steve helps manage our program insurance relationships including the management and supervision of Skier Re. After spending many childhood summers at Day and Resident Camps, Steve has a special place in his heart for summer camps.
Gina Knapp, AU, CISR
Senior Account Manager
With AMSkier since 2001, Gina is a Senior Account Manager. She holds Associate in Underwriting and Certified Insurance Service Representative designations. Gina lives in Narrowsburg, NY with her companion of 26 years. When not working at AMSkier she enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking and gardening.
Susan McGinnis, CISR
Sue is no stranger to AMSkier having worked here for more than 30 years now. She is a licensed Insurance Agent and holds her Certified Insurance Service Representative designation. In the past, Sue has worked in Personal and Commercial Lines. She has been in the Camp Department for over 15 years. In her spare time Sue enjoys photography, especially taking pictures of sunrises and sunsets.
Carol Morgan, CISR
Senior Service Director
Carol, a proud member of Team Skier for over 30 years, has spent her time working in various departments of AMSkier. Her caring way has made her find her home as a popular Service Director. In her spare time, not only does she volunteer as a member of the Wayne County Master Gardeners, but she also works at her family’s blueberry farm. Carol is pursuing a horticulture degree from a local community college.
Magdalena (“Maggie”) expresses her creative side in everything she does at AMSkier. She has always been attached to summer camps, spending many years at them as a child. During college, she worked at Camp Scatico, where she met her husband Pavel. Both are now at AMSkier and their two children are campers. Maggie has a master’s degree in Economics and completed an internship at European Integration Committee in Warsaw, Poland. In her spare time Maggie enjoys running and hiking.
Information and Technology Director
Pavel joined the AMSkier Team in 2002. As Information and Technology Director Pavel contributes his significant skills with technology and computers to the smooth functioning of AMSkier. During college, he spent five summers working at Camp Scatico. After earning his bachelor’s and master’s degree in Management and Economics, Pavel and his wife Maggie interned together at camp. Pavel was an accomplished soccer player in the Czech Republic, and still enjoys playing in his free time.
Peggy Olson, CIC, CISR
Program Underwriting Manager
Peggy is a lifelong resident of the Hawley area and has been a part of AMSkier for over 30 years, working in various areas of the business. It was in 1995 that Peggy was recruited in the Camp Department and has worked there ever since. Peggy has earned her designation as Certified Insurance Counselor, and Certified Insurance Service Representative.
Fili Schariest, CISR
Prior to joining AMSkier in 1983, Fili worked at Deutsch Lloyd Insurance in Frankfurt, Germany. After years of experience in Commercial and Personal Lines she enjoys working in Camps Department. In her spare time, Fili volunteers for the Downtown Hawley Partnership, likes to garden and participates in the local arts & crafts activities.
Martha is excited to be a part of AMSkier Camp Program and is looking forward to developing close relationships with Camp Directors across the county. Martha moved to Hawley in 2007 from New Jersey, where after earning her BA degree in accounting. She has worked as a finance manager for over 20 years. In her spare time Martha enjoys volunteering in the community, and spending time playing music with her husband. She has a true love of nature and animals. Very often you can pass her house and see the deer eating out of her hand.

Part of the AMSkier Family since 1990, MaryHelen grew up in Hawley and graduated from University of Pittsburgh. After spending several years working in New York City, she found her way back to Hawley and AMSkier, where she works closely with Henry, Jeffrey and Aimee, taking care of America’s Finest Camps.
Accounting and Payroll Specialist
Kim takes care of payroll, accounts payable and generally helping with staff needs. Kim loves the small town of Hawley, PA, where she works, finding great satisfaction in the area’s natural beauty. Working at AMSkier since 2002, Kim has found her perfect fit since she likes to sit at night around the campfire and stargaze. A true romantic, Kim also loves to sit on the porch in the morning and listen to the birds sing. She is married and has one daughter.
Joseph Faubel, CPA
Chief Financial Officer
Joe joined AMSkier in 1992 and today is the Chief Financial Officer. He also serves as Director and Assistant Secretary of AMSkier Reinsurance Company. Joe graduated from University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and was licensed shortly thereafter as a Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania. Joe presently resides in Hawley, PA, with his wife in the same home in which they raised their three sons.
Proud to be a part of the AMSkier Family, Penny began her career with AMSkier in 2000. She graduated from Shippensburg University with a BSBA. Having lived in Virginia, New York, and Pennsylvania, Penny currently calls Newfoundland, PA her home, with her husband and three stepchildren and two English Bulldogs. In her spare time Penny enjoys attending sporting events.
