We are pleased once again to sponsor our annual Summer Leadership/Safety in a Camp Environment Program now in its 12th Year. The successful collaboration between the GECSC and Lackawanna College has created this three (3) elective credit Leadership Program available to college students employed at your camp.
If you either have a Certified Safety Director on staff or a student who has completed two out of the seven GECSC courses, you are qualified to offer the GECSC Leadership Program to your staff.
It's simple for your staff to enroll.
1. They need to have successfully completed their freshman year in good standing.
2. They need to take the description of the Leadership/Safety in a Camp Environment Program Goal & Objectives (attached below) and the Brochure (attached below) to their college advisor and obtain permission in writing to participate.
3. Once agreed upon, the student needs to complete the application, submit it with the $450 fee and the written permission from their advisor. The written permission and check for $450 and the registration form are to be mailed to Norman Friedman.
Our Dean, Norman Friedman will be available throughout the summer to assist your Safety Director with this program. He will be reviewing the required papers of your Interns and once successfully completed, will authorize the transfer of credits to the home college of each student.

If you run a New York Camp, you may be interested in the New York Safety Group for Worker's Compensation Insurance. The Group is managed by one of the partners for all of ACA, NY's educational events this year, AMSkier. According to the folks at Skier, in 2009, camps in the Safety Group were returned 40% of their premiums and the average dividend since the program's inception is 45.8% or over $9,800,000 in dividends since 1993.
