The Skier family is proud to announce that Laurie Granville has celebrated her 30th year anniversary with AMSkier. Well known and highly respected by AMSkier Camp leaders, Laurie is a Senior Accounting and Service Director, working directly with camps on accounting issues.
“The personal relationships with the Skier family and my colleagues, and working with our camp leaders are the best parts of my 30 years,” Laurie says. “I feel like I know camp staff in all areas of the United States where we insure camps, and I am surrounded by a great working environment at AMSkier, which is now celebrating its 90th year.”
Laurie joined AMSkier as a Claims Assistant on April 14, 1980, and she has seen many changes at the company, from the introduction of computers in the 1980s, to the expansion and growth of the business into two office buildings, and the introduction of the third generation of the AMSkier family, Jeffrey and Aimee. Laurie and her husband Joe have a son and a daughter.
“Laurie is known for being courteous and thorough when working with both clients and co-workers,” says Joe Faubel, AMSkier Chief Financial Officer. “Her experience and knowledge base is extremely valuable to our camps, and her energy, loyalty and dedication have made her an important part of the AMSkier family.”
Carol Morgan, an AMSkier Senior Service Director with more than 27 years at AMSkier, says, “Laurie is a kind, generous, helpful and upbeat person and one of our favorites at AMSkier. Many people look up to her and I don't think we have a more reliable, dependable person on staff.”
AMSkier president Henry Skier says that he remembers Laurie Winkler (Laurie's maiden name) as a bright enterprising young person who showed a keen desire to learn and to succeed, and who emerged from every experience as a respected member of the AMSkier Team. "Jeffrey, Aimee, and I are proud of our relationship with Laurie, and we hope that we will continue to be together for many more years."

New York State Insurance Fund reports 18th consecutive dividend for the Safety Group; dividends and discounts reduce total cost of workers’ compensation insurance for members by 60 percent
New York, N.Y. – May 13, 2010 – The New York State Children’s Camp Safety Group, founded 19 years ago to help children’s camps improve their safety and reduce workers’ compensation insurance costs, has declared a 50 percent dividend on paid-in premiums for its members.
In addition to this dividend, the Safety Group announced an immediate discount of 10 percent for eligible members. The combination of the discount and dividend, along with additional rate and assessment reductions, have reduced the 2010 cost of workers’ compensation insurance for Safety Group Members by 60 percent, according to Henry Skier, Safety Group co-founder and group manager.
“With this year’s dividend, members have received more than $9.8 million since the Safety Group was founded in 1991,” Skier said. “No other camp insurance buyer has as much control of its destiny for improving safety and reducing costs than this distinguished group.”
The Safety Group has 130 members who share in dividends and discounts. It is administered by AMSkier Insurance (www.amskier.com) for the New York State Insurance Fund and endorsed by all of New York’s leading camp organizations. Dividends have been declared and paid in every year since the group was founded, with an average dividend yield of more than 40 percent.
Enrollment in the Safety Group for new members is open through June 30, 2010 for day and resident camps. There is a 10 percent discount of workers’ compensation premiums for enrolling applicants after the first full year.
Camps may apply to the Safety Group Manager, Henry Skier, by calling 800-245-2666.
